After a month into the course, a number of students came to see me today- the day before the mid-term exam. Each one wanted to know what chapters were going to be covered, and whether they could borrow my book, or if I could get books from the library for them. It is amazing and disheartening to see such supreme lack of effort, and the confidence that one can get away by just reading enough to get through the exam.
